The second annual CoMo Wellness Conference will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018. This year, three keynote speakers and two breakout sessions will focus on “Mind and Body Wellness” and how these are connected to diet and lifestyle.
Our first speaker, Kelly Brogan, MD, is board certified in psychiatry, psychosomatic medicine, and integrative holistic medicine. She specializes in a root-cause resolution approach to psychiatric syndromes and symptoms. She is the author of the New York Times best-selling book, A Mind of Your Own: The Truth About Depression and How Women Can Heal Their Bodies to Reclaim Their Lives. Dr. Brogan will be speaking on the drawbacks of the conventional approach to mental health and how people can heal by addressing the root cause. Her method involves making lifestyle changes first and foremost. Dr. Brogan avoids--and assists in safely weaning her patients from--pharmaceutical treatments. Dr. Brogan is a revolutionary in the psychiatric world. She offers hope and healing for those who suffer from all degrees of mental illness, from brain fog to depression and anxiety. Dr. Brogan will equip you with the knowledge and motivation to move towards a more vibrant life.
We’re also excited to hear from Katie Reid, PhD, who is a biochemist and mother of a child formerly diagnosed with autism. While searching for strategies to help with her daughter’s symptoms, Dr. Reid discovered a strong association between those symptoms and many ingredients in, and methods of, processing our food. After altering her daughter’s diet, the severity and frequency of her symptoms were drastically diminished. Her daughter is no longer considered to be on the autism spectrum. Dr. Reid will discuss how free glutamates (such as MSG) are hidden in our food, medicine, and body products; she will help us understand how they excite the nervous system and contribute to sensory disorders, inflammation, and microflora imbalance. We will then learn together how to avoid these harmful compounds and restore balance to our nervous system.
Our third speaker is back by popular demand. Chris Link, MD, runs the Integrative Medicine – Natural Healing Alternatives and Medical Acupuncture clinic in Jefferson City, MO. He is a clinical instructor of integrative medicine in the Capital Region Medical Center Family Medicine Program. At this year’s conference, he will teach us about how he’s used Dr. Dale Bredesen’s groundbreaking research, which leverages the power of nutrition, lifestyle, and functional medicine to effectively reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease and to reverse it once cognitive decline has begun. With the prevalence of Alzheimer’s today, this is beneficial knowledge not only for caregivers and patients but for the rest of us as well.
As requested by our past attendees, there will also be two breakout sessions this year. Attendees will have five topics to choose from, including sessions with Dr. Brogan and Dr. Reid in which they will be joined by women who have used their methods to make dramatic improvements in their own and their children’s health and well-being. These women will share their personal stories and will be able to answer questions about the realities of making these drastic-sounding lifestyle changes. Attendees will also have other sessions to choose from including sessions on yoga, epigenetics, homeopathy, and eating for optimal health.
We are thrilled to hear from these speakers and come together as a community of individuals who are looking for answers and who are eager to take control of our physical and mental health. Early bird pricing ends January 31! Visit www.comowellnessconference.com for more details and to purchase tickets. We look forward to seeing you on April 21!
